Palm Springs Still-Life & Portrait Workshop

The Workshop

This four-day workshop will include teachings by Daniel relating to all of the key elements necessary for creating successful paintings, no matter the subject. Essentials such as drawing, values, color temperature, edges, and composition will be thoroughly discussed, as well as advice about set-ups, lighting, supplies, and equipment.

Most days will begin with a demo by Daniel, with the exception of one (usually the first workshop day) in which Daniel will offer a morning lecture and digital presentation. This presentation is an in-depth lesson, and will further enhance the workshop teaching while giving students the confidence they’ll need to grow as skilled painters. Each day, students will paint after lunch and all through the afternoons, while Daniel instructs and offers personal critiques.

Added to this year’s workshop is a PORTRAIT DAY! The fourth day of class will be dedicated to painting the portrait from life, with a live model and demonstration from the instructor. After lunch, the students will have opportunity to paint from one of two models.

    The Setting

The setting, an Italian-style villa nestled away on beautifully landscaped private-grounds, is within walking distance of nearby hotels, resorts, and restaurants, and is an ideal environment for creating art, as well as immersing yourself in all that the desert has to offer. Along with the four amazing days of teaching and painting, the villa's owners make the experience all the more appealing with their first class hospitality. It’s one of Daniel’s favorite places to be!
